30 week ultrasound

In the Netherlands, a 30-week ultrasound is not a standard procedure for every woman. This is only done on medical grounds. Only if there is a medical reason, the ultrasound will be reimbursed by the health insurance company. The ultrasound will show how the baby is growing and how he/she is positioned in your belly. Often you can see the face, the hands and feet and if the baby has hair. But also, the various organs of the baby can often be seen very well. The ultrasound is done through your abdominal wall.

INDICATIONS

Medical indications for a 30-week ultrasound include:

  • a previous child that was too small
  • a placenta lying too low
  • overweight
  • a previous child that was overweight

Your midwife can tell you more if you want to know if there is a medical reason for you to have a 30-week ultrasound.

Then PUUR Birth Centre offers you the opportunity to have a ultrasound at your own espense. These ultrasounds are without medical indication and at the request of the pregnant woman. The costs of the ultrasound are therefore at your own expense (€ 45,-).
