When will you call us?
Around the 35th week, we will go through the calling instructions with you during the consultation hour. These can then be tailored to your personal situation.
With a gestation period between 37 and 42 weeks, you can give birth with your PUUR Geboortecentrum midwife. If the term of your pregnancy is longer than this, the hospital gynaecologist will be in charge of your delivery.
Labour starts differently for everyone. One may have some mucousy blood loss (we call this 'signs'), another may start with the waters breaking and yet another may start with contractions.
You call us if:
- You have regular contractions*.
- In your first childbirth: When, for a period of 2 hours, you have had a contraction every 3-4 minutes that lasts about 60 sec.
- For all subsequent deliveries: When, for a period of 1 hour, you have had one contraction every 5 minutes, lasting about 60 sec.
- Your water breaks. Collect some amniotic fluid in a cup or keep a sanitary towel.
- If this happens at night and the amniotic fluid is clear (or a little pink), you can wait to call until 9:00 the next morning.
- If the amniotic fluid is green or brown, call us immediately. Even in the middle of the night.
- If during the last check-up the head has not descended yet, lie down and call us immediately.
- There is a lot of blood loss. A little loss of blood is normal, possibly combined with mucus ('signs'). If you notice that it is more than with a menstrual period, call us immediately.
- You have any of the above symptoms (blood, amniotic fluid or contractions) before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
- You're worried or if you need us.
Call us on your team's mobile number in the above situations:
- Team pink: 06 - 13 54 07 07
- Blue team: 06 - 13 54 07 00
* When clocking contractions, you always count from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next one. This means contractions every three minutes: 60 seconds of contraction, 2 minutes of pause, 60 seconds of contraction, 2 minutes of pause.
