Care hours

Since 1 January 2006 maternity care has been covered by the basic health insurance package for everyone. You will receive maternity care for the first eight to ten days after giving birth. This can sometimes be different in the case of hospitalisation. As with all maternity care organisations, we are obliged to charge you a statutory personal contribution.

HOW MANY HOURS OF REIMBURSED MATERNITY CARE DO YOU GET?

The number of hours of maternity care you will need is determined using the National Maternity Care Indication Protocol. This is a manual that allows all maternity care providers, midwives and insurance companies throughout the country to determine the required amount of maternity care in an objective and uniform manner.

The maternity care that you will need is determined on several occasions. The first time is during the intake interview that takes place between 32 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. The intake is conducted by a PUUR maternity care consultant. Your wishes will be discussed and mapped out together. The number of hours of care will be carefully determined on the basis of the National Maternity Care Indication Protocol. The number of hours of care will be recorded on the indication form.

RE-EVALUATION

Because not everything is known before the birth, we also look at other moments to see what care you need. This happens immediately after you give birth and during the care provided in the maternity period. If necessary, the care provided is adjusted. We call this a re-evaluation. These re-evaluations are recorded in the maternity care file and are carried out by your own midwife in consultation with your maternity nurse.
