In the beginning of the pregnancy an ultrasound will be made to determine the pregnancy length and the due date: the term ultrasound. This ultrasound is done between 10 and 13 weeks.
The 13-week ultrasound is intended to investigate whether your baby has physical abnormalities. The ultrasound can be performed between 12+3 weeks and 14+3 weeks of pregnancy.
The 20-week ultrasound is an ultrasound scan conducted between the 18th and 22nd week of pregnancy. The main objective is to find out whether your baby has any physical defects.
In the Netherlands, a 30-week ultrasound is not a standard procedure for every woman. This is only done on medical grounds. Only if there is a medical reason, the ultrasound will be reimbursed by the health insurance company.
Usually, women have one or more ultrasounds in the first months of pregnancy. Sometimes it is necessary to have an extra ultrasound at another time during the pregnancy. These ultrasounds are done on medical grounds.
If you want to enjoy an ultrasound at another time in addition to the medical ultrasounds, you can have a fun ultrasound made.
