PUUR Contraception

At PUUR, it is possible to have our midwives place an IUD as contraception. You do not need to have been a client to make an appointment. Even if you do not have any children or have previously been under the care of another obstetrician, you are welcome at our practice to have an IUD placed. Please contact us for information by telephone and to make an appointment.

CONTRACEPTION

In the Netherlands, various methods of contraception are available. Most methods of contraception are female-oriented. But which contraception is best for you? Some methods require daily attention, others only once every 10 years. Certain methods of contraception may affect your periods, while others may not, so make sure you are well-informed.

PLACING THE IUD

FOLLOW-UP CHECK

After placing the coil, we immediately check with the ultrasound whether the coil has been placed correctly. Some women like to have checked whether the coil is still in the right place later on. PUUR therefore offers a free follow-up check as an extra service. You will then have another ultrasound to check. You can make an appointment for this after your next period, or six weeks after the coil was inserted. If your family doctor or gynaecologist has inserted the coil, you will usually not receive an ultrasound check-up.

COSTS

Most health insurers reimburse the cost of an IUD, but sometimes this is deducted from your policy excess. Check your policy conditions for this. You usually must pay the costs of purchasing the IUD yourself, but sometimes they are reimbursed by an additional insurance policy.
