Heart consultation hour

Would you like to listen to your baby's heart again? Then come to our heart consultation hour. Every Thursday afternoon between 16.45 and 17.15 hours the midwife at the Birth Centre in the Kruislaan (Hoofddorp) will be present to listen to your baby's heartbeat. Please note: to be able to listen to the heartbeat with our doptone you have to be at least 12 weeks pregnant!

You can visit us without an appointment, advance notice is not necessary. Please let our assistant know that you are here. The midwife conducting the heart consultation hour will then be at your service as soon as possible.

In early pregnancies (12 to 15 weeks), it is sometimes not possible to hear the heart with the doptone. This can happen when the uterus is tilted backwards or when the baby is lying low in the uterus. This is normal and does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong with your pregnancy. But what if we are not able to hear the heartbeat right away? Come back the next week and we will try again.

The heart consultation hour is only meant for listening to the heart. For answering questions, discussing results or other matters, please visit our regular consultation hours or schedule an extra appointment with our assistants.

Feeling movement?

It is normal that until 27 weeks of pregnancy you will not yet feel your baby move every day. You can find more information about your baby's movements on our Feeling movement page. Are you past 28 weeks and are you worried whether your baby is moving enough? Then please contact us immediately.
