GUO

A GUO (Advanced Ultrasound Examination) is an extensive ultrasound examination. A GUO always takes place in a specialized hospital and is made by a GUO- sonographer. During a GUO, the fetus is examined very accurately by ultrasound. To make a GUO, it is necessary that there is a medical reason.

WHEN A GUO?

If there is a reason for making a GUO during pregnancy, you will receive a referral from your midwife. There is then a medical indication for this ultrasound. For example:

  • When you have a higher risk of abnormalities in the baby than average. For example, because you have taken medicines that may be harmful to the child. Or because there is a condition in your family that your baby is also more likely to have.
  • When there are indications of abnormalities after examination in the context of prenatal screening.
  • In case of abnormal growth of the baby.

COST

Some health insurers allow part of the costs of the GUO examination to fall under the deductible. Ask your health insurer about the amount of any costs.
