Calf cramps or restless legs
Poor blood circulation causes women to suffer from a heavy and oppressive feeling and 'restless legs'. It's hard to suppress the urge to move your legs all the time. This is especially after exercise or at the end of the day. Cramps in the calves at night are also caused by poor circulation.
CAUSE
As the blood must be pumped back to your heart past your full, heavy uterus, it stays in your legs longer. This increases the pressure in your veins and stretches the blood vessels. Also, the blood flow in your legs is reduced and less oxygen is transported to the muscles.
TIPS
- Make sure you do not stand or sit for a long time, so keep moving regularly.
- Do not wear tight clothing
- Wear comfortable and low shoes
- Shower your lower legs and knee hollows with cold water. This will improve circulation in your legs.
- Massage your legs or have someone do it for you. When doing so, stroke in the direction of your heart to massage the blood flow out of your legs.
