Weigh

All babies lose some weight the first few days after birth. It takes a while for the baby to get into the right feeding rhythm. The new life costs him energy. The weight loss can be up to 10% of his birth weight. After fourteen days, it is often back to its birth weight.

Weighing frequency

  • The baby is weighed before the bath or before a feed. The baby is weighed without diaper and clothes.
  • During the maternity period, the maternity nurse will weigh your baby every day
  • Light or heavy babies, or babies who have some difficulty drinking, are usually weighed more often. This is always done in consultation with the midwife.
